Message Title: Faith is Giving God our Best
Message Truth: We have a choice in our lives; we all have a Cain and Abel inside of us…who will we choose to be?
Message Text: Hebrews 11:1-6, Genesis 4:1-15
God Gave Adam 4 Things:
-
Word – unique, sufficient, powerful, Truth
-
Work – We made in Gods image to create, design and build.
-
Woman- help mate, partner for a greater purpose. It’s bigger than you.
-
Worship – Cain and Abel were instructed by God and their parents “over the course of time”
True Worship MUST Include Faith
The Purpose of worship
-
By faith, responding to who God is and what he has done, it is surrendering your whole lifestyle and not just a Sunday event.
The Problem with Cains Worship
-
Cain did not come by faith and by Gods prescribed way. Cain thought showing up was enough.
-
-
The Way of Cain is trying to earn Gods favor on our own. Something in Cains motivation, attitude and performance that made it unacceptable.
-
Jude 1:11 – “they went the way of Cain” it means to devise my own way of worship and standards.
-
-
Those who belong to the evil one will have evil actions and those with evil actions will hate those with righteous actions. Cain lied to God furthering the condition of his heart.
The Praise of Abels Worship
-
Give God Your First and Best: Abel offered the firstborn of his flock and the fat portions, showing that his sacrifice came from a heart of true surrender, rather than just routine obligation.
-
Approach God on His Terms: Abel’s blood sacrifice acknowledged his need for forgiveness and followed God’s required path for worship, contrasting with Cain’s self-directed effort.
-
Actions Speak Louder Than Words: Abel is not recorded as saying a single word in the Bible, yet his humble, obedient action of faith left a powerful legacy that still speaks today
-
Faith is a Matter of the Heart: God accepted Abel because of the attitude of faith behind his gift, proving that God looks at the inner posture of the worshiper over mere external deeds.
Final Question: We have a choice in our lives; we all have a Cain and Abel inside of us…who will we choose to be?
