Message Text: Romans 8:1-2
- Romans 6 – Sin leads to death and suffering
- Romans 7 – Sin is a lifelong struggle
- Romans 8 – Gods answer for weak Christians is the Holy Spirit
Because I am not condemned…
1. I can live without guilt
2. I don’t have to prove myself to God and others
3. I am no longer condemned but as a child of God I will be disciplined.
Living by the Law of the Spirit…
1.Gives me power to pursue real joy.
2.Gives me the power to pursue the downward pull of sin
3.Brings heaven to my soul before my soul goes to heaven – the abundant life, walking in the Spirit
Three Ways to Apply
- No Condemnation: Just as a plane effortlessly rises above the ground, the Spirit lifts us above the guilt and condemnation of our past.
- Power to Change: We are no longer chained to the downward drag of the flesh; we have the power to live a life that honors God.
- Active Dependence: Just as a pilot must keep the engines engaged to stay aloft, believers must continually rely on and yield to the Holy Spirit day by day.
