Our Church Family Plans for January, 2020

Pastor’s Search Committee

The search committee is receiving resumes and diligently working on finding the right person for our church. We all need to be praying without ceasing for them and for God’s Will to be done.
As chairperson of the committee, Tammy Loggins gave a report to the church on Sunday morning, Jan. 26, stating that the Search Committee has received many very promising resumes. And the committee is now ready to start going to hear some of these people and talk personally with them.

Men to Cook Sunday Lunch February 9th

The Brotherhood men will host a church wide lunch. They will cook hamburgers and hotdogs, and it will be a great opportunity for church wide fellowship. This will be in place of one of the Sunday morning Brotherhood breakfast fellowships they usually have. SO the ladies can relax and let the men do the work for this one!!

Children’s Play

Our children will be preparing for a short play they will present on Palm Sunday, April 5th. We are all so proud of the great job they did portraying the Christmas Nativity story, “Mary Did You Know”. And we all look forward to their celebration of “The Empty Tomb”!

What’s Going on with VBS Planning?

The first planning meeting for this Summer’s Vacation Bible School was held on Saturday, January 11th. We decided on June 14-18 at night for our 2020 VBS. This summer adults and children alike will be talking with Joseph in an Egyptian jail. And who knows where else we will see him by the end of the week!
There is a place for everyone in the church to help with this mission emphasis. So you can help with anything from donations to acting a part in the dramas. Maybe you can help in the kitchen or help pack everything away afterward. We invite all teens and adults to come to our planning and work time on Saturdays. And there is a private VBS Team group on Facebook. Just ask on FB to join, and we’ll be glad to add you!
We will meet first Saturdays of February and March at 1:00 PM for VBS Work Days. I’m sorry, but I put the wrong date for this meeting in the bulletin and on the calendar. Hopefully it’s fixed properly now.
We will meet SATURDAY, FEB 8 at 1 PM. The March meeting date and time will be set then.
We’ll see a video presentation overview of the program and team leaders will receive their materials as well. And we will also start making the various craft materials during that time. Beginning in April, we will meet every Saturday for work days, so please make plans to help out whenever you can.

More to Come…

Please bookmark our What’s Going On? menu to keep up with what’s going on from month to month. We will announce new activities as information becomes available. You can always find the sermon videos and comment about current happenings on the church Facebook page.
The members of First Baptist Church of Vincent has been involved in the life of our town since before the Civil War. And we pray that our members are looking forward to being involved in the life of our community for many, many years to come. We encourage you to join with us in fulfilling God’s plans for our congregation and our community.
PS: In case you’re wondering – – – Due to reasons beyond our control, we had to go back to using this older website for this year.
