Trial Sermon and Spaghetti Lunch Sunday, March 15th

Reverend Robbie Weems will preach in our pulpit on Sunday, March 15th. Please be in prayer about this important decision in the life of our church. And make a special effort to attend in person to meet him. After the morning service there will be a spaghetti lunch for all. Bro. Weems and his wife will be there. And his resume will be available to any member of the congregation at that time.

If that’s not possible, please try to watch the video feed on our church Facebook page. The church will vote the following Sunday, on the 22nd, whether or not to call him as our new pastor.

And we are now collecting donations toward our Annie Armstrong Easter Offering.  Our Goal is $1,200. The Week of Prayer for North American Missions is March 1-8th.

Fellowship Opportunities

We continue to host Tuesday Night Game Nights. About a dozen or more people usually attend. Participants from the church and community play card and board games. They also play ping pong and generally enjoy each other’s company. And the ladies plan a potluck supper.

Also, about fifty people enjoyed the hamburger and hot dog lunch the Brotherhood men cooked after Sunday service on February 9th.

Holy Week Plans

Our children are busy practicing for their play on Palm Sunday, April 5th. And they are learning about the real Easter story. They will act out “The Empty Tomb” for us and lead the congregation in singing a song of celebration.

Bertie Butler will have her annual Easter Egg Hunt on the Saturday before Easter, April 11, at 2 PM. She and her family have been hosting this event for about 20 years. And there is always a huge turn out from the community, with a hundred or so attending last year. The Easter Bunny visits the children, there’s lots to eat and drink, and a child appropriate Bible Story is shared. And there are prize eggs to find, too!!! We want to thank Ms. Bertie for this ministry to our community.

On Easter our church family will continue a long tradition of bringing flowers to decorate a large wooden cross on the church lawn. So come early to Sunday School and add your greenery and flowers to create a living testimonial to our living faith.

March VBS Workshop

The next VBS Work Day will be Saturday, March 7, at 1 PM. There are ways that every church member can help with this mission project. So even if you aren’t led to, or not able to work during VBS itself, you can still do your part. Please bring scissors if you can, as we will be cutting out materials for the children to use in crafts, and we will also work on costumes. We make as much as possible for our Bible School activities to keep our costs down.
These work days become an opportunity to help and also a time to enjoy fellowship. We will meet every Saturday at 1 PM from April 18th, after Easter, until VBS starts. So if you can’t help on one day, there will be other times to be useful!

Cindy Perkins has volunteered to collect donations toward our VBS expenses. So please have your wallet handy the next time you see her. Or you can donate directly here.

More to Come…

We urge you to continue to pray for our Pastor Search Committee. And we look forward to the day when God’s man for us comes to shepherd our church family. Please keep Sonny Conill, Stan Elliott, Philip Barber, Heidi Barber, and Tammy Loggins in your prayers as they work on this important task.
