Message Text: Genesis 29
Message Truth: God did not create imperfect people, People do Imperfect things, but God works through the imperfect.
1.Jacobs greatest character flaw is deception, now Jacob is going to be deceived by Laban.
God can bring people into your life to expose our sin.
- If you’re a liar, people will lie to you.
- If you cheat, people will cheat you.
- If you are a gossip, people will gossip.
God was working on Leah like He was working on Jacob, Remember Leah went along with the scheme, she could have said something at the front.
2.Even though Leah is unloved God loves her. Grace always brings Hope.
God provides her with children.
- Reuben – “behold a son”
- Simion “one who hears”
- Levi “joined”
- Judah “May God be praised” This is the tribe in which Jesus would come from.
All 12 sons of Jacob will represent the 12 tribes of Israel – remember God must work with imperfect people in an imperfect situation for His perfect plan.
Leah eventually turned her heart toward God and not a man
Takeaway: This family was a mess – but out of what mess came a Messiah – that’s what Grace does.
