Message Title: “Jesus Knows”
Message Truth: Jesus was the happiest man that ever lived because he knew sin could not satisfy.
Message Text: Matthew 4:1-13
Sin can happen as …
1.Undetected flaw
2.Unprotected Life
3.Unepexpected Temptation
Temptation is one of the greatest weapons of Satan’s arsenal. “perrasmes” to test or to prove something. The word means either a “proof of righteousness” or “an educement to do evil” depending upon the context, sometimes its both. God intended to test and to prove His Sons righteousness, but Satan intended to seduce Jesus into sinning.
How can it be both?
Notice…
“The serpent did not come after Eve with a stick but an idea.” Dallas Willard
1.The Temptation to be Self-Sufficient (vv.1-4)
Jesus didn’t become controlling, even with his legitimate needs. He trusted God.
2.The Temptation to be Spectacular (vv.5-7)
Jesus refused to become a stunt man. He didn’t perform to be a celebrity.
3.The Temptation to be Powerful (vv.8-10)
Jesus would not take a short cut to gain power or worship.
Be careful…we will often be tempted in our area of personal strength to assert yourself.
Takeaway: Temptation can be defeated because there is a greater power available to you.
The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.” Romans 8:11
