The Breakthrough of Joseph

Message Title: Where There Is Faith There Is Hope

Message Truth: When you face a situation you can’t handle, remember this simple truth: I cannot do it, but God can. Joseph lived this reality again and again. When he stood before Pharaoh, facing a task far beyond human ability, Joseph didn’t rely on his own strength or wisdom. He openly acknowledged his limitations and pointed everything back to God. What Joseph could not do on his own, God did through him, turning an impossible moment into a divine breakthrough. Joseph’s humility opened the door for God’s power to be revealed.

The Life of Joseph – From Pit to Palace

  • I. The Pit: Rejection and Jealousy (Genesis 37)

Joseph, the favored son, is betrayed by his brothers due to his dreams and father’s favoritism.

Lesson: God’s purpose often begins amidst rejection and painful circumstances.

  • II. The Pit: Integrity in Temptation (Genesis 39) 2,3 – 20-23

Sold into slavery in Egypt, Joseph serves Potiphar but is falsely accused and imprisoned.

Lesson: Maintaining personal integrity and faithfulness to God is crucial, even when falsely accused.

  • III. The Prison: Patience and Preparation (Genesis 40)

Joseph interprets dreams for fellow prisoners, yet is forgotten, teaching him reliance on God’s timing.

Lesson: Every pain point is preparation; God uses trials to mold character.

  • IV. The Palace: Promotion and Purpose (Genesis 41) 14-16

Joseph interprets Pharaoh’s dreams, is promoted to Prime Minister, and wisely prepares for famine.

Lesson: God will promote and use those who are faithful in the small things.

  • V. The Purpose: Reconciliation and Forgiveness (Genesis 42-50)

Joseph saves his family, forgives his brothers, and recognizes God’s hand in his suffering.

Lesson: Forgiveness breaks the cycle of bitterness, and God works all things together for good.

Key Takeaways:

  • God is Sovereign: He works behind the scenes, turning trials into triumphs.
  • Faithfulness Matters: Integrity in the “pit” prepares you for the “palace”.
  • Forgiveness Brings Freedom: Releasing vengeance allows God’s plan to unfold.

Three Ways to View Life

1.Self Focused – I am at the center. This leads to disappointment.

2.Circumstantial Focused – My comfort and security is at the center. This leads to confusion

3.God Focused – God and His purposes and plan for our lives is at the center. This leads to fulfilment.
