Message Title: The Grace of 2nd Chances
Message Truth: God’s Character: The narrative of Jacob demonstrates that God is not limited by our past mistakes or present failings. He is willing to work with individuals and offer them multiple opportunities for a fresh start and a changed life.
Message Text: Genesis 33:1-11
SECOND CHANCES IN THE BIBLE
- Moses, who murdered a man (Exodus 2:11-15)
- Jonah, who fled from God’s command (Jonah 1)
- David, who committed adultery and had a man murdered (2 Samuel 11:14-17)
- Rahab, who was a prostitute in Jericho (Joshua 2)
- Peter, who denied even knowing Jesus after spending three years with Him.
Brokenness refers to a state of humility and dependence on God, where one recognizes their own inadequacy and surrenders their will to God’s. It’s a process of being stripped of self-reliance and pride, allowing God to mold and shape a person into His intended image. Brokenness is not an end in itself, but a pathway to spiritual growth, deeper intimacy with God, and ultimately, fulfilling God’s purpose for one’s life.
- Brokenness: We don’t like brokenness, but it is a critical part of Gods transformation process.
- Brokenness means stripped of your self-sufficiency, it means no longer living independently from God.
- Brokenness is the door and avenue to Gods biggest and best blessings.
- God always meets us more than halfway; He wants to change you and make you ready for what he has prepared for you.
- You can’t earn the love of the one who truly loves you. Jacob could not earn Esau love, and we can’t earn God’s love.
Takeaway: Brokenness is the door and avenue to Gods biggest and best blessings. Surrender today and watch what God will do.
