Message Text: Isaiah 53:4-12
Message Truth: People have enough faith to get them to heaven but not enough to get them through life. Why is this?
1.Sin as a Predator (Genesis 4:1-12)
Sin is real and is a law and power- it cannot be managed or ignored – forgiven, run from and destroyed. Romans 7:21-24
- Sin hides itself
- Sin desire to have us (v.7) sin desires crouching at you door and desires to have you
2.Sin as Self Deception (1 Samuel 15:12-33)
v.20-21
- Blaming others
- Focusing on our goodness
- Minimizing sin (but I used them as an offering ) we celebrate partial obedience.
3.Sin as Mistrust (Jeremiah 17:5-10)
- Sin is putting your roots down in anything other than God
- What do you worry about the most?
- What if you lost ___________ life would not be worth living?
- Psalm 37:4 (delight in God and you will flourish)
- Sin is making God a means to an end instead of God being the end itself.
4.Healing of Sin (Psalm 51)
- Be honest about it
- Confess it
- Stalk it, hate it, kill it (be killing sin or sin will be killing you)
Be at war with the thing that is at war with you
- Seeing a better King
- We can’t say NO to temptation until we have something far better to say YES to.
