Sermon Title: Jesus: The Servant King
Text: Isaiah 53, Mark 6:1-6
53 Who has believed our message
and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?
Unbelief – is a decision not to follow the light you have received.
What to know about Unbelief
It is normal for people to reject and not believe. The first effect of sin is the heart is wired not to believe- default position “natural man”
It is sinful – it insults God and calls God a liar.
It is futile – It does not change anything
He grew up before him like a tender shoot,
and like a root out of dry ground.
He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.
What lies behind unbelief
We consider the wrong things – Jesus did not look impressive and was from a small town Nazareth.
We are drawn by the wrong priorities– people do not take the time to look for Jesus.
We are driven by the wrong desires – we are driven by the approval of other people and not God. Pastors, coaches, politicians, kids, teens

The Danger of Familiarity
And they were offended at Him: These neighbors of Jesus were “too familiar” with Jesus. They knew little enough about Him to think that they knew everything about Him. You can hear many things about Jesus growing up in church and still not believe them – this hardens your heart.
